README

YouGitAI Secure Showcase

AI-assisted secure code showcases for WordPress — scan, redact and publish GitHub repositories without exposing sensitive IP.

YouGitAI Secure Showcase is a WordPress plugin that turns public or private GitHub repositories into employer-friendly portfolio showcases. It combines deterministic secret detection, AI-assisted IP review, manual protection rules, versioned public snapshots and a constrained ChatGPT/MCP review workflow.

The goal is simple: show what you built without turning your portfolio into a blueprint for cloning it.

Highlights

  • GitHub OAuth support for public and private repositories
  • deterministic secret scanning
  • AI-assisted portfolio/IP review
  • manual path, string, regex and symbol-oriented protection rules
  • protected files and folders remain visible as architectural context without exposing their contents
  • visible inline redaction markers in public code views
  • versioned draft/public snapshots
  • human-controlled publication workflow
  • ChatGPT/MCP integration with OAuth
  • OpenAI, Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini support
  • standalone WordPress frontend
  • native Elementor integration
  • German and English localization

Portfolio-aware protection

YouGitAI is designed to distinguish between useful technical evidence and material that should not be public.

Typical review classes include:

Proprietary business logicAbstract / protect

Safe publication model

  1. Import repository content for private review
  2. Detect potential risks
  3. Review scanner/AI suggestions
  4. Approve protection rules
  5. Apply protection to a draft showcase
  6. Verify the resulting snapshot
  7. Publish only after explicit human approval

Sync is not publish. AI review is not publish.

AI/MCP clients do not receive direct publish or restore capabilities.

Protected structure

Files or folders that must not be public can remain visible in the repository tree as protected entries. Visitors can understand that a component exists and where it belongs while the protected source itself is never served publicly.

ChatGPT / MCP

YouGitAI exposes a constrained MCP interface for authorized repository review. It supports repository discovery, paginated tree inspection, selective source review, security findings and protection proposals. Publication remains under WordPress administrator control.

WordPress / Elementor

The plugin works standalone and also provides Elementor widgets.

Typical public routes:

/repositories/
/repositories/{repository-slug}/

Security

The plugin is designed around a strict separation between original repository material and public showcase snapshots. Repository contents are treated as untrusted input, publication requires explicit human approval, and protected content is not returned through the public showcase API.

See [SECURITY.md](yougitai-secure-showcase/SECURITY.md).

Installation

  1. Download or build the plugin directory yougitai-secure-showcase.
  2. Upload it to /wp-content/plugins/ or install the release ZIP in WordPress.
  3. Activate YouGitAI Secure Showcase.
  4. Configure GitHub access and optional AI providers in the WordPress admin.
  5. Import a repository, review protection suggestions and publish an approved showcase snapshot.

Development status

YouGitAI is under active development. This repository contains the actual plugin source. Credentials, API keys and site-specific configuration are intentionally not included and are configured at runtime in WordPress.

Secure GitHub repository showcases with strict source/public separation, deterministic secret scanning, optional AI-assisted review, standalone WordPress rendering and Elementor compatibility.
== Description ==
YougitAI Secure Showcase imports a GitHub repository into a strictly separated public snapshot. Original source is processed in memory, scanned and redacted before any showcase content is persisted. The public frontend never reads directly from GitHub.
The plugin works standalone in WordPress, via shortcode and through a native Elementor widget. Elementor Pro is supported but not required. Private GitHub repositories are supported through an encrypted fine-grained access token or a configured GitHub OAuth App. Large repository trees use a safe recursive fallback when GitHub truncates its recursive tree response.
External AI processing is optional and disabled by default. When enabled, selected source files can be reviewed before they are discarded. A final deterministic leak scan runs before publication.
== Security workflow ==
1. Import source into transient process memory.
2. Block known-sensitive paths.
3. Scan for secrets.
4. Optionally run AI exposure review.
5. Apply repository protection rules.
6. Persist only sanitized showcase content.
7. Review findings.
8. Run final leak scan.
9. Publish verified snapshot.
GitHub push webhooks can queue asynchronous imports. A webhook never publishes automatically; it only creates a new draft snapshot for review.
== Shortcode ==

Multi-provider AI review supports ChatGPT/OpenAI, Claude/Anthropic, and Gemini/Google with encrypted API-key storage.
After GitHub OAuth authorization, the Repositories screen can load all accessible public and private repositories directly from the connected GitHub account. Multiple repositories can be selected and imported at once; manual repository URLs remain available only as a fallback.
ChatGPT (DIRECT) uses native OAuth discovery and PKCE by default, so users normally paste only the MCP server URL into ChatGPT and approve repository access in WordPress. No model API key or copied bearer token is required. A temporary bearer-token mode remains available only as an advanced fallback for compatible MCP clients.
== Portfolio showcase ==
Published repositories include a secure overview, repository browser, README preview, detected technology stack, language distribution and high-level architecture modules derived exclusively from the verified public snapshot. A native Elementor repository-grid widget is included in addition to the single-showcase widget.
== GitHub connection ==
For private repositories, use either an encrypted fine-grained token or configure a GitHub OAuth App in YougitAI Settings and use the displayed callback URL. Webhook, hourly and daily sync modes create draft snapshots only.
== Data retention ==
Repository data is preserved on uninstall by default. Administrators can explicitly enable secure deletion of plugin tables, stored credentials and settings from the settings screen before uninstalling.
= 1.0.29 =
* Added configurable showcase colors in the plugin settings.
* Kept Elementor responsible only for the page canvas while YougitAI retains its own UI palette.
= 1.0.30 =
* Isolated repository browser buttons from global Elementor/theme button styles.
= 1.0.31 =
* Centralized all dark showcase frontend colors in plugin settings.
* Added configurable warning/redaction and blackout colors.
* Styled language/skill progress bars from the YougitAI palette instead of browser defaults.
* Removed Elementor/theme color bleed from remaining showcase controls.
= 1.0.35 =
* Fixed redaction-marker colors so the saved backend fill/edge colors override dark/auto theme defaults reliably.
* Added an explicit localized redaction tooltip on mouse hover and keyboard focus.
* Tooltip text follows the active WordPress locale (German/English).
= 1.0.34 =
* Added independent repository-browser hover/background/text, active marker/background, and focus-ring color settings.
* Added a redaction legend that explains how to find partially redacted files and fully protected files.
* Redaction-marker color remains configurable and localized hover/focus explanations remain available.
